4:02pm
10lbs 2 oz
21 inches

  • enduced at 9:00am
  • sitting in the shower in active labor by 9:30am
  • reached 5 cm at 2:00pm
  • called epidural guy
  • got epidural at 3:00pm
  • 3:30pm, epidural stopped working
  • 4:02pm, after 2 pushes, Amy is born in all her 10 lbs glory
People keep asking me if I had to have a c-section because of her size. When I tell them no, they ask how I did it. My responce:
I pushed, really hard.

All is well and she is a WONDERFUL baby. (knock on wood) I don't want to jinx it. She sleeps, eats and poops great. I'm getting 10 hrs of sleep a night with her waking up about 3 times to eat. I feed one side, change her bum and feed her the other and she's right back to sleep.
We decided on Amy for her name because James liked it. I thought it was cute, I didn't love it or hate it but wanted to still look at other options. But when she was born and he brought it up again, I just knew that that was her name and when I tried to look at her and think of other names, it just didn't fit right and I knew Amy was it.
Sorry I took forever to blog about it. I got an epidural headache and let me tell you, it was like the worst thing I've experienced. I think I rather give birth. You literally cannot move, all you can do is lie on your back and if you move, you feel like your head is about to burst. James ended up taking me to the hospital on Sunday to get a blood patch which basically is another epidural only instead of putting the freezing in your back, they take blood from your arm and inject it into the hole in your spinal fluid to stop it from leaking (that is what causes the headache) After about 2 hours I was able to get up and walk around. If I was to have another baby for some reason, I would skip the epidural cuz I never want to risk going through that again. Plus my epidural didn't even work this time so I got to feel that and then have the headache for really, no reason.
Anyway, here is my 8 day old baby who looks 2 months. My friend Mishel came over and took some pics of her so I will have to post them soon.

The epidural is just not worth the risk - that's what I say. Although I tend to be a bid more paranoid than the average person.
She is gorgeous and I can't wait to come see her. I am sad though, hopefully the new born clothes I got her will fit. If not I will just save them for me and hopefully one day I can use them...

Congrats, I was excited that I got to see her right when you came home!

aw Dina she is so cute. Even if she looks older she is still adorable! That sucks about the headache though! Your seriously amazing for pushing her out with no epidural and surviving! haha.
Love the name choice too, she looks like an Amy forsure.
