Yesterday Lorelle had an MRI for her cheek. The docs just wanted to get a better look at and see exactly where it is sitting and all that stuff. She's ok and she was such a trooper. Me on the other hand....I did ok. It was hard for me to watch my little baby go through that. They put an IV in her hand and had to sedate her since she needed to be perfectly still. She fell asleep on the way down to the MRI machine but when they picked her up to put her on it she woke up and started to cry. They gave her to me so I could settle her back down and then he asked me if I could put her on the MRI machine. That was sad. She was so small on this big machine. She woke up a few times during cuz the machine is really loud. But they said she did really good (I had to wait in the waiting room) and that they got some really good images. After it was done, the nurse that took me back to pediatrics was telling me about it and she said that the MRI people were talking and they said that it looks like only fluid, they couldn't see anything else, they were just trying to see what was causing it and where is was coming from. I asked her if she saw if it was just one cyst or just a bunch of little ones. She said that she isnt a specialist but from what she saw it only looked like one to her which is really exciting. I'm trying not to get my hopes up cuz I don't get the results for about a week but that would be so great if it was just one then it is so much easier to deal with. James and I are planning on going up to Calgary to get a second opinion since we weren't really happy with the surgeon we saw. I'm not letting my little baby wait until she is 5 to do anything for her. We will wait until the MRI results come back though before we decide to do anything. We had spent about 7 hours in the hospital with her in total and I was so tired. Since kids were up all night...I dont know why...I only got 3 hours of sleep. Murphy's law, the one day you have to be up really early and be busy all day, your kids don't sleep....stupid Murphy. But all went really good and I will keep everyone posted.
If that wasn't enough events for the day, Mady decided to take a bite out of the fireplace. James was gone at his meetings since he's the EQP and said he would be home at 8. So I kept the kids up for him so he could see them since he hadn't seen them in a few days cuz we were in town for the MRI. Lorelle was being really fussy so I had picked her up and was rocking her to sleep when I heard a "thump" I looked up and there was Mady with Lorelle's blanket over her head and she had stepped on it and fallen. Her back was to me and she started crying and I was like "well then don't walk with a blanket over your head" (I know, I'm a good mom, full of sympathy...obviously) Then she turned around and was gushing blood from her mouth. It was all over the fireplace, dripping all over my carpet and covered her pajamas. I was like "great!! what am I gonna do...James isn't home!" So I picked her up and cupped her mouth to catch the blood, ran outside in the -24 degree weather, with no coats on ( I know, good mothering again) and was running to my neighbors for help when James turned the corner. Couldn't have come at a better time. He saw us, opened the door, asked what was going on. I plopped Mady on his lap and said go to the hospital and off he drove. I ran to my neighbors, who came over to be with the kids while I ran to the hospital to drop off a coat and shoes for Miss Madilyn. They were cleaning her off when I got there and she was screaming bloody murder. After I dropped off her stuff and gave her a hug, I went home to releave my neighbor and clean blood off of my fireplace, my carpet, my pants, my shirt, the kitchen floor, the front entry, the front door, James' white church shirt and suit and other things. Good times. She's ok. She split open her gums and lip on the inside of her mouth and has a huge fat lip today. She needed one stitch but since they had to knock her out for that, the doc said it wasnt worth it for the one stitch and she will be fine. This is the best pic of her fat lip since she wont sit still. So I had a nice eventful day full of hospitals all on 3 hours of sleep. I think I am good for a year!!!

Oh man aren't you just full of happy relaxing times! I think a 2nd opinion is a great idea, never hurts to ask.
Also, I would have said the same thing to my kids if they would have been walking around with a blanket on their heads :S
MAdys hair looks sooo long there. But she looks like she surived....Oh the life of a mother eh?? crazy how it all happens at once...
Dina, you are always full of crazy fun filled events.
I am glad your kids are all healthy and happy now.
I hope the best for Lorelle! And I hope you get some sleep!!!
Sounds like a crazy time! I kind of wish they had sedated Sam for her stitch instead of confineing her. Now, anythign siver gets near her at all(nail clippers, scissors, you name), or you hold her head still for any amount of time, and she freaks out! It took 4 nurses to hold her still to put her stitch in by her eyebrow...good times.
I think that a second opinion is a wonderful idea! Then you know all your options. Hope you are able to get some decent sleep tonight.
I would of said that same thing about the blanket! ha too funny. But wow one hectic day eh? I hope you are taking some serious down time after all that. I also agree about getting a second opinion and hope evrything works out ok. Keep us posted, you are doing a great job!!
Yikes, you've had a fun week. I am one of those mom's that often goes for a 2nd opinion if something doesn't sound right. My Dr. knows this and he is usually the 2nd opinion, the first is the on-call doc at the local ER. My kids have hard noggins and tough skin & thus far haven't had any stitches....knock on wood. I am amazed at the things they do when I am not watching and somehow they don't end up injured or even in pain. We just have sickness-prone children that pick almost everything up & have been sick more times than I can count. Good luck with everything!
